COMMERCIAL BUILDINGS

Energy efficiency ratings for commercial buildings are assessed using Section J of the BCA.
This is applicable for Class 2 to 9 buildings.

Reports are provided that indicate compliance with the thermal performance component of Section J of the BCA.

These reports must be accompanied by reports from your electrical and mechanical engineers covering artificial cooling and lighting.

What is required for the assessment?

• Full set of drawings including site plan, floor plans, sections.
• Details on window U-values and solar heat gain coefficients (available from your window supplier or   designer).

It is best to assess the building at the end of the design stage before commencing construction documentation as changes may have to be made in order to comply such as the addition of external shading devices or changes to glazing types and sizes.
